La Vigile is a non-profit organization. It 's purpose is to offer shelter and help to peace officers ( primarily police and correctional officers) working in the province of Quebec who are experiencing personal difficulties of a physical, psychological or emotional nature. These include severe stress, burn-out, various forms of violence victimization, family problems, harassment, post-traumatic disorder, mourning, suicide, sexual abuse and more.

Different specialists such as physicians, psychologists, psychotherapists, chaplain and others as needed will be on hand to offer help and support.

Boarding will be offered free of charge and our goal is to be self-sufficient financially.Therefore, we believe that any personal donation - be it $ 1.00 per week - from the majority of the officers working in the province should provide enough funding to keep the organization afloat. Arrangements in this regard can be made with the employers by contacting us.

Should this experience prove successful, other such houses could open in various regions in the future.
